Connect Orbit to Google Contacts
Every person you meet lands in Google Contacts, so they show up in Gmail, on Android and anywhere else you use your Google account.
Before you start
- Orbit on iPhone with Orbit Pro.
- A Google account. Gmail and Google Workspace both work.
Connect in under a minute
- Open Orbit, then Settings, then Integrations.
- Tap Google Contacts, then Connect Google Contacts.
- Sign in to Google Contacts and allow access.
- You are back in Orbit and Google Contacts shows as connected. Orbit now sends every contact you already have, then each new one as you save it.
Google Contacts has no deals, tasks or files, so those stay in Orbit and in the notes block.
What Orbit sends
| In Orbit | In Google Contacts |
|---|---|
| Name | Name |
| Phone | Phone |
| Company and job title | Company, Job title |
| Website | Website |
| Website, labelled LinkedIn | |
| Photo | Contact photo, when the contact has none |
| Also added | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Notes | A From Orbit block in the contact's notes with your follow-up, the event, how you met, the AI summary and your notes. Anything you write above it is kept. |
Change anything in Orbit, such as a new phone number, a second meeting or a new follow-up date, and Google Contacts is updated within seconds. Empty a field in Orbit and it is emptied in Google Contacts too.
Changes made in Google Contacts
Edit the name, email, phone, company, job title and website in Google Contacts and Orbit picks it up within about a minute. If the same detail was changed in both places, the newest edit wins. Notes, the summary and the timeline are written by Orbit, so edit those in Orbit.
What Orbit never does
- Delete anything in Google Contacts, even if you delete the contact in Orbit.
- Delete anything in Orbit when a record is deleted in Google Contacts.
- Import people who only exist in Google Contacts.
- Add the same person twice. Orbit matches by email, then by name with company or phone.
Permissions Orbit asks for
- See, edit and create your contacts
- See your email address, to show which account is connected
Orbit uses this access only to keep your Orbit contacts in sync. Read the privacy policy.
Disconnect
In Orbit, open Settings, Integrations, Google Contacts, then tap Disconnect. Orbit stops syncing and removes its access in Google Contacts. Everything already sent stays in Google Contacts. You can also remove Orbit from Google Contacts in myaccount.google.com, Security, Third-party connections.
Troubleshooting
- Orbit says Reconnect. Google Contacts signed Orbit out, usually after a password change or removed access. Tap Reconnect and sign in again. Nothing is lost: changes wait and send once you are back.
- A contact has not appeared. New contacts usually arrive within a few seconds. Check that Orbit Pro is active and Google Contacts shows as connected in Orbit.
- Still stuck? Email hello@orbitnetworking.app with the contact's name and we will sort it out.
